Bu köyün eski adının Larissa olduğu söylenir. Tavaklı, Sakar Dağı etegine kurulmuş olup, Çanakkale ye 74 km ve Ezine ye 24 km uzaklıktadır. Tavaklı deniz seviyesinden 200 metre yüksekliktedir ve deniz kıyısına 3 km uzaklıktadır. Denize sadece 3 km uzaklıktadır. Bu bölge ılıman bir iklime sahiptir. 2000 yılı nüfus sayımı köy nüfusunun 607 olduğunu göstermektedir. Köyün temel geçim kaynağı tarıma dayanır. Bir deniz kıyısında olmasına rağmen balıkçılık bir endüstri olar.

Built in 1922 this stone house in Tavakli village was purchased in July 2011 and work started on its renovation in August. The house sits in a plot of land 636 m2 in size. The house is built on a stone foundation and is made of stone and brick. The house is in reasonably good order but there will be an extensive renovation project to provide it with more comfortable living accommodation.
